Zero Fatigue has been the buzz of the web since last year when Brown debuted BlkJuptr for the world to hear. The Missouri artist has pushed a heavily refreshing sound distinguishing him from the wave of melancholy and dark artists coming up at the moment by giving us feel good vibes overlaying his midwest meets southern rap style over jazzy tempos. With the release of his 2017 debut album, BlkSwn, we’ve seen young Smino’s numbers and sound keep growing and this summer if you’re smart you will definitely give him a listen at his Adelaide Hall show alongside producer Monte Booker, April 29th. Cupcakke (Elizabeth Harris) has made her mark through her notoriously lusty and vulgar hard rap in the industry, what many thought was meant to be comedic genius has been spun to build a devoted fan base and bustling career. Having dropped her 2017 debut album Queen Elizabitch, Cupcakke’s raunchy reign carries on with a quick tour, though her sound may not be for everybody her animated and lighthearted attitude towards her sexuality makes her stand out and surely interesting for live entertainment.

Future Hendrix has come a long way in the game evolving not only his sound but overall vibe in the industry. The heavily drug fuelled tracks which Hendrix is known for have always spoken to the stories of his upbringing and struggles throughout his life. This year Future hit the mark with back to back releases Future and HNDRXX, both albums with two distinct tastes that Future fans were not expecting, blowing the 33 year old rappers ratings out of the water and sitting him at the top spot for weeks on end with tracks such as “Mask Off”. The Budweiser stage set is currently sold out but check into Ticketmaster and authorized resellers for more closer to the show date.

Chance the Rapper

Must Hear Tracks: Coloring Book (Full Album), “Acid Rap”, “Smoke Again”

The man with a plan, Chance the Rapper, has become a fan favourite in house holds across the world since top selling album, Coloring Book, debuted last year. This discography which has become a holy grail for some music libraries sent Chance the Rapper sky rocketing for his heavily rhythmic church flow, the Chicago rappers 14 track album was heavily based in his spirituality and created a new lane in music making last year by way of major tracks such as “All We Got” and “How Great” which some now consider gospel rap. Chance continues to play into living a selfless lifestyle while sharing a message that’s become lost in the secular community while still maintaining a very cool edge to his sound. If you missed out on his stop in Toronto last fall you have a chance (no pun intended) to get back into the loop this May on a bigger platform, ticket sales have been listed as sold out but be sure to check in closer to the date of via Ticketmaster and authorized resellers for last minute quick finds!

Veld Music Festival

Dates: August 5th and August 6th

Location: Downsview Park

Must See Acts: Future, Major Lazer, 24Hrs, Migos, Lil Uzi Vert, Frank Walker and more

Veld Music Festival has the city buzzing and not because of it’s already super wicked EDM lineup but for a switch up featuring so many rap, R&B and Trap artists this year. Veld has taken a turn and with open arms has welcomed names such as Tory Lanez, Lil Uzi Vert and more, this is highly unconventional for the festival as it was once a predominately EDM rave but over the years we’ve watched the sets grow inviting names such as Waka Flocka down to take over the stage. These changes so far are being well received on social media platforms praising Veld for bringing multifaceted artists onto the scene with high energy which may inspire future collaborations. Only two days long Veld rings in the long weekend we’re all waiting for, packages are now up for sale on the Veld website.
