After months of anticipation, rumours and minor leaks, the much awaited album, Views has finally come along. Set to debut April 29th, Drake surprised OVO fans with an early release exclusively on Apple Music the night before it’s grand debut. As fans patiently waited behind their computer screens tuned into Beats1Radio, 10:45pm came, then 10:55, then 11:00pm, with no word of the 6God on site for his interview with Zane Lowe, the public took to the internet to make some aggressive, yet hysterical memes speculating what the delay meant.  It didn’t take long for people to catch on around 11:05pm, when Graham’s interview began, that he had launched an official stream of his fourth studio album via Apple Music.

With 20 songs cued over 81 minutes and five seconds of pure glory, this discography gifts listeners with some live features, the most raw productions and that Heartbreak Drake flow we’ve all been missing, making Views (arguably so) one of the best albums of 2016 thus far. Known for being one of the few artists able to put Toronto on the map while simultaneously bringing consumer culture to it’s knees, Drake gave us everything we were expecting and then some with this one. Views is a cold cross between vibes from Take Care to Thank Me Later, old and new Drake fans get a little bit of everything with the Toronto creative, reggae-pop vibes, grimey rap and sensual R&B are intricately woven through this immaculate production. After a few listens we thought it would only be fair to break down the album and give you the complete guide to Views from songs sampled, down to the vibe of each track.

Views is more than an diary of Drake’s emotions, this album is filled with personal experiences and memories that have shaped the “Hotline Bling” singer while growing up and living in Toronto. Views is the perfect mixture of the Drake we came to love and know almost a decade ago coming in line with the man who helped shape the sound of a city as we know it today. From punchline flows and quick wit to emotion filled serenades, Graham has delivered a guilt free listen with feelings of authenticity and open endings. Though many from outside of the city may not understand the experiences and references of places that helped shaped him today, Views is a must hear for everyone. This album is one up for Toronto, and a gift to urban artistry.
